Orientation for New Council Delegates

Thursday, April 20 (9:00 – 10:00)

For new delegates to CAUT Council, this session will provide an overview of procedures and rules of order for the meeting. There will also be a review of CAUT’s organizational structure, activities and services, and meeting policies.

Information Sessions Thursday, April 20 (11:00 – 12:00)

Preparing for the 2024 Canada Social Transfer Review

Federal support for post-secondary education, through the Canada Social Transfer (CST), has steadily eroded when adjusted for inflation and enrolment growth. Next year, Ottawa will be reviewing the CST. This session will explore the issues at stake and discuss how CAUT and its member associations can press for changes that will provide stable long-term funding to support high quality and accessible universities and colleges.

Q&A Session on CAUT Financials and Proposed Budget 2023-2024

Council delegates are invited to attend a session with Treasurer Yalla Sangaré and Finance Director Tony Cantin who will provide information and answer any questions about CAUT’s financial reports and the proposed 2023-24 Budget.

Planning Successful Job Action: Strike Do’s and Don’ts

In recent rounds of negotiations, a record number of academic staff associations have had to strike to push back against administrative intransigence. This session will allow participants to exchange experiences, strategies, and advice about strike preparation and execution.
